teaching statement
Performance training requires us to be present with what arises moment to moment. To be present, we must breathe into our somatic (mind-body) connection. Accessing this connection requires technique and skill developed through rigorous practice.
The rigour of the space I hold does not neutralize or devalue your uniqueness; the practice requires that you bring your full self into the room. To show up fully as ourselves and be open to creativity is vulnerable.
My role is to create a container that welcomes questions, ideas, fumbles, and big feelings. I build a bridge, connecting your lived experience to the skills needed to thrive in performance training. As your teacher, I invite you to cross the threshold into success without abandoning yourself.
I offer many ‘ways in’ to this work, including the ways I learn best: through hands-on play, asking questions, and receiving gentle, specific feedback. I will meet you where you are and stay curious with you.
I am a lifelong learner. Teaching is integral to my artistic practice.
